Pro-Choice YQL Fund Developer

Annual Salary: $81,000.00
This is a one year term position, with potential for annual renewal.

Pro-Choice of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta is a charitable non-profit focused on access to sexual and reproductive health care. We believe in the right for every body to access supportive, informed sexual & reproductive health care. Our resources are gender neutral & we work to provide culturally informed health care resources and referrals.
We are searching for a motivated, creative and outgoing individual or agency to create, execute and be responsible for an ambitious fundraising campaign. This is a year long commitment with the possibility of renewal. The Fund Developer will work closely with the Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Governors of Pro-Choice Society, and will report to the Executive Director directly. We expect experience in fundraising, partnership development and grant writing.
This role will require the identification, organization, and management of a large-scale fundraising campaign to raise operational and program funding from public granting agencies, government departments, businesses, public and private organizations.
The Fund Developer will:
Lead all aspects of a well-coordinated fund development program informed by best-practice and internal value structures;
Develop and implement a significant fundraising campaign;
Oversee major gift solicitation, grant seeking, events, direct mail, online giving, planned giving, and relationship building activities;
Attend and participate in community events as a representative of Pro-Choice Society;
Work with the Executive Director, Board members, staff and others as required to develop fund raising activities and strategies;
Develop and implement donor stewardship and recognition activities;
Monitor fundraising trends and assess fund development program effectiveness against best practice and industry standards, recommending enhancements as needed;
Maintain internal/external reporting requirements and all relevant legislative, regulatory, reporting and CRA requirements.
Expected Experience:
3 years of practical experience in fundraising, fund development, grant writing and/or donation campaigns;
Track record of successful fund development for organizations and/or campaigns;
Strong experience with event planning and coordination;
Existing network of relationships with non-profits, community organizations, reproductive and abortion health care organizations and advocates, Alberta health care providers, fund developers, and/or donor networks;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Strong english language skills - other languages an asset but not required;
Experience with and comfort using online platforms such as Squarespace, Canva, Design Tools, Google Work Space, Monday, and other project management programs;
Strong comfort working independently with minimal supervision;
Collaborative approach to campaigns and fundraising;
Comfortable working within organizational value structures and brand guidelines;
Knowledge and experience working with non-profit and charitable organizations;
Knowledge and experience with CRA tax legislation on charitable donations, funding, receipting, and reporting;
Has access to a vehicle, and is able to travel independently to communities in Alberta for longer than 24 hours;
Has access to a home work environment;
Currently lives in southern Alberta;
Has the tools - ie. computer and internet, to work remotely;
Is comfortable with online meetings and phone meetings;
Is comfortable working with diverse needs and capacities from staff and volunteers;
Is interested in systemic change within health care and to access to health care;
Is passionate about reproductive rights and interested in expanding knowledge on access to reproductive health care.
Working Conditions:
Working hours are flexible - and will not exceed 35 hours per week;
This is a remote position - the primary location of work will be the employee’s home;
A coworking desk space in Lethbridge will be available to all employees for use;
We offer all employees paid professional development opportunities;
Travel to communities in the southern Alberta region will be needed on occasion, based on the employee’s availability and capacity.
We have a team based working environment with consensus based models of decision making;
This position will report directly to the Executive Director.

Pro-Choice Society of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta (Pro-ChoiceYQL) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as our Outreach Coordinator. This is a 11 month contract, funded by Women and Gender Equity Canada.
Pro-Choice YQL is a charitable non-profit focused on access to sexual and reproductive health care. We believe in the right for every body to access supportive, informed sexual & reproductive health care. Our resources are gender neutral & we work to provide culturally informed health care resources and referrals.
The successful candidate will play a strong, visible, and strategic role in our current grant funded project to increase access, education and knowledge of sexual and reproductive health care. The ideal candidate will be organized, resourceful, and flexible - with a commitment to public education on sexual and reproductive health care. They should have experience in outreach, managing volunteers, event planning, and community work. This position requires confidence and comfort in discussing sexual and reproductive health care in public settings.
The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:
Managing the Pro-Choice YQL volunteer program;
Tabling at community and stakeholder events;
Coordinating outreach activities and programming;
Planning and executing public programming;
Managing engagement data;
Travel to communities throughout Alberta to deliver public programming;
Meeting with stakeholders and related services as a representative of Pro-Choice YQL;
Promoting Pro-ChoiceYQL’s public image, and act as a resource for advocacy, information and education;
Staffing the Pro-Choice YQL access line - providing resources, information and referrals for patients seeking sexual, abortion, and reproductive health care.
We are looking for candidates with:
Lived experience / work experience / post-secondary education (or a combination thereof) in outreach, sexual and reproductive health care, activism, community organizing, customer service, communications, social work, and/or reproductive justice;
Experience in coordinating public activities;
Experience with talking to people with diverse backgrounds and experiences in large group public settings;
Interest in continuous skills development and learning;
Interested and excited to represent Pro-Choice YQL at public events, festivals, pride events, and conferences;
Computer skills to produce effective spreadsheets, reports, documents and presentations;
An understanding and comfort with issues relating to abortion, reproductive rights and birth control;
Comfortable working in health care environments;
Comfortable following public health orders;
Strong capacity to work independently;
Must possess Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License and have regular access to a vehicle;
Must be able to travel independently - this position will require the Outreach Coordinator to plan for solo day and overnight travel 7-10 days a month;
Successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check;
Strong english language skills - written and verbal. Other languages - written and verbal, are an asset but not required;
Capacity to work variable hours - evenings and weekends will be required for outreach activities.
