My Story Isn’t Tragic or Sad. It’s Real.
I was in a good relationship with a good partner. But he was in the military and about to be deployed, and I had a feeling it wasn't going to last.
The day I found out I was pregnant was two days after I had finished at my workplace to pursue starting my own business.
If I weren't able to terminate, I would have been a statistic and stereotype—a single mother on income support.
Pro-choice YQL helped me access the resources I needed to terminate.
When I found out, my partner supported my decision. My friends and roommates knew and supported me as well. What I'll forever be grateful for is that I didn't have to hide it. Post-abortion, I wasn't prepared for the change in hormones and cried a lot for no reason that week.
I was so thankful I had the community and support I did because I couldn't stop thinking about the girls who don't.
My abortion gave me a new insight and appreciation for motherhood. I respect all women who choose to have children so much more now.
But it should be a choice.
Years later, I am in an amazing relationship, have a fulfilling career, and am now a mentor to other women starting a business. I can fully contribute back to my community.
